Aaron has only been playing guitar for a few months but he is eager to learn and perform. He didn't seem to phased by the video shoot set.
Welcome to Guitar Stars 2021 - Online!
This year, our Guitar Stars concert couldn't proceed due to the pandemic, so we decided to let our students perform, much like it would have been like in concert with lights, microphones, etc.
17 participants are featured and we are very proud of them for being so brave to play in front of lights and cameras.
The entire production was led by Jesse Hanna at Glory Studios, including sound and video recording and editing. Special thanks go out to him for donating so many hours of his time to work on the project.
Please check out all of the student performances. Some are very short and others are normal song length, but all played with a passion and love for music.
Aaron has only been playing guitar for a few months but he is eager to learn and perform. He didn't seem to phased by the video shoot set.
Angus has been a student of Kevin's for several years. He also plays lead electric guitar, classical guitar and bass guitar. Angus is also becoming quite familiar with computer music, recording and music production.
Jessica has been dedicated to learning the classical guitar for the past couple of years, and still loves to play her Les Paul with some good heavy metal. She has miraculously been able to practice hard and move forward even through getting married and having a baby. She is a great example of an adult that can dive into learning an instrument amidst life's busyness.
Charlotte performs Let it Be on the electric guitar. Charlotte has been working dilligently on her guitar playing and this performance made her a little nervous, but we're so proud of her.
Landon is a young multi-instrumentalist and singer. He has been studying music with Kevin for the past few years and reads music notation very well. But that's not all. Landon plays guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, sings and is learning recording and music production techiniques. He and his parents have been gradually setting him up with a home studio for recording. Landon also plays bass and sings in Kevin's band, Glory Misfits. This song he's performing is Multiplied by Needtobreathe.
Dylan loves playing guitar and taking lessons. His dedication is starting to pay off as seen in this performance.
Mady has only been taking lessons a few months, but she dillegently practices her guitar and moves forward through the method quickly. She is a bright light and when she walks into the studio she transforms us all with her joy and laughter.
Fainen loves playing the electric, and often chooses songs that are a challenge. This is a great attribute, to take on the 'tough ones'. Fainen's a natural performer.
Sawyer has been studying guitar with Kevin for over two years and is in level 5 of the method. Kevin was surprised that Sawyer chose to perform one of the newest songs he's learned and definitely the most difficult. He could have chosen a less difficult piece, but he is brave and wanted to give Rustic Dance a try. Keep it up Sawyer! btw... Sawyer's dad, Jim has also been studying guitar with Kevin and is advancing nicely through the RCM classical series.
Gioia has been studying music with Kevin for over half of her life. She is a natural performer and has honed her skills in steel string acoustic guitar and classical guitar. She is also a singer/songwriter. Check out her other performance for Guitar Stars.
Tom has been studying with Kevin for the past three years and his sight reading is quite impressive. He seems to really love 'lead' guitar and will choose to play that over rythym guitar which is primarily chording. He is moving in that direction a bit more lately though. Tommy loves worship music and for Kevin, this is a real delight. This song, he plays lead guitar on, is 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman.
Gioia has written several songs and has performed them at the NH Music Festival over the past few years, and has won several awards. This song, Glorious... it will stick in your head, and that's what a good song is supposed to do.
Tori is one of Kevin's newest students to perform. She is soooo brave. She also doesn't normally play electric guitar, so this was new for her. Keep your eyes out for this girl, as she is a quick learner and doesn't seem to be phased by 'lights, camera, action'.
Hailie has only been taking lessons for a few months and was brave enough to perform in front of lights, cameras and microphones. Way to go Hailie!
Tyler is Kevin's most advanced classical guitar student, currently in Level 4 of the RCM series. He practices a lot! Kevin, being quite amazed at how Tyler can perform a new piece wonderfully after only working on it for a week, asked him how much he practiced. He told Kevin that he practices a new song at least 20 times a day! It shows. Tyler is also learning electric lead guitar and home recording and production software and techniques.
Hunter always seems so excited to come to guitar lessons. He normally doesn't play an electric guitar, so this was new for him. He is a delight to teach and was fun shooting the video with him.
Veda is following in her big sister, Gioia's footsteps in a lot of ways, but she is unique in so many other ways. She plays electric bass guitar and sings with a real passion. Her choice of music is always a pleasure for Kevin to accompany her. Veda has an incredible future ahead of her in music. She would really shine being in a band!
Jack is a natural musician, and plays steel string acoustic, classical guitar, piano and trombone. He has taken a shine to the classical guitar over the past year and is working his way through the RCM levels.
